If you were wondering how to build an affordable mining rig step by step, then this ti 4GB eight GPU rig build makes a great option. Not only do these GPUs make a great low-cost mining rig but their very energy efficient as well. The ti cards can also mine a wide variety of cryptocurrencies like Ethereum and Ravencoin to name just a few. However, these type of rigs builds may not be the fastest at mining cryptocurrencies, but in some cases, they can be the fastest to ROI.

Another nice advantage with these types of mining rig builds is they tend to be low heat, which is nice if your running one or two rigs inside a home. So I wanted to create this helpful guide to show new miners how to build a reasonably cheap mining rig step by step.

For everything else try to use the recommended parts as some form factors will only work with select hardware. I do want to mention further that the overclock settings will work with just about any version of Ti 4GB. Just remember if you go with another series of card you will need to use other overclock settings.

Installing a CPU is relatively easy, but you need to be careful in handling it and be sure not to touch the side with all the gold contacts. The first thing you need to do is open the latch for the CPU socket located in the center of your motherboard. Once open you can begin to remove the CPU from its packaging and start looking for a triangle or notch located on one of the CPUs four corners.

The same notch or triangle is also located on one of the four corners of the motherboards CPU socket. Be sure when installing any CPU that these markings always line up to ensure the CPU is seated correctly inside the motherboard housing.

The fan has four legs which snap into the motherboard and lock in by turning the knob at the top of each leg. Adjacent to where the CPU socket, located on your motherboard, you should see two or more slots were the RAM gets installed.

Most mining motherboards use a DDR4 form factor so make sure to check beforehand that your RAM meets the motherboards required specs. Make sure to unlock the lever if your motherboard is equipped with one before trying to insert the RAM into its slot.

Be sure to push the RAM into the slot until you hear a click and double-check to make sure it is seated properly in the slot before proceeding. This adapter makes use of the motherboards M. Once the screw posts are in you can now insert the adapter into the M. Make sure your M. Also, it best to plug in the adapters SATA power cord which attaches to the power supply later.

Before you mount the motherboard to your mining rig frame be sure to predrill any holes you need to hold the GPUs in place and any other hardware to avoid metal shaving debris in your electrical components. To avoid overtightening the screws its best to use a Phillips head handheld screwdriver when mounting the motherboard to the frame. Be sure to use a screw in every corner and at least one in the middle to ensure the motherboard is appropriately secure. To do this, you need the power supplies 24 pin and 8 pin power cables.

Attach the power cables end to the motherboard and then situate the power supply next to the motherboard and proceed to plug the power cables into the power supply.

Up next you need four additional pin SATA cables that came with your power supply and attach them to the power supply as well. When you opened your motherboard, you may notice some extra cables in which you need to connect the SSD hard drive to the motherboard. On the same pin cable you can now plug in the M. Once the BIOS gets done updating, and the settings are adjusted you can now begin installing your Windows 10 operating system. Things to note about operating systems are that there are lots to choose from when it comes to mining cryptocurrency these days. Installing Windows is pretty straightforward as you only need to insert the bootable drive or disk and follow along with the installation guide walkthrough. Once Win10 is installed go ahead and check for updates and let the computer run for however long the system needs.

These first batch of updates can take up to an hour or two so please be patient while the systems updates. After the system is fully updated I like to run some window settings tweaks to disable some of the unnecessary programs running as part of the default settings inside Win To do this, I use a script in which you can download through the link below and click on once downloaded to start the process. Be sure to watch the video below as it shows you step by step on how to optimize windows settings best suited for mining rig stability.

Window Setting for Mining Script. Now that we have windows set up its time to power down the rig and plug in our first GPU but first we need to attach the PCIe Risers to them.

Before you turn the mining rig on it best to make sure everything is seated correctly and check all your connections one last time. Let the computer startup for a few minutes and let the GPU drivers have a few minutes to install before attempting to start the miner. During this time you may see the screen begin to flash which is perfectly normal especially when windows are installing the GPU drivers for the first time. Remember to start with only plugging in one GPU at a time during this process and allow it to fully install the drivers before install another one.

You need to download a wallet, and so for this guide, I recommend a Ravencoin mobile wallet, but you can use a desktop wallet as well.

While setting the wallet up, please do yourself a huge favor and write down any seed or passphrases to ensure your wallet is appropriately backed up. Once installed obtain a copy of your wallet address so its ready for when you configure your miner. You need to download this miner and create a folder called Ravencoin Miner on your desktop and stick the files inside the folder for now. This additional software is need so that we can unzip the miner files and overclock the GPUs for better performance.

Go ahead and download and install these two files before you proceed. Now that we have everything we need installed on the mining rig we can begin setting up our first miner which is simple. Go back to the Ravencoin miner folder you created on your desktop and right-click on the miner file you downloaded. If you have 7 zip appropriately installed, you should see an option called 7 Zip.

Once you click on it be sure to select extract here to unzip the miner files inside of the Ravencoin Miner desktop folder. From here you need to delete all the text inside the BAT file and replace it with the following commands. Once you have finished editing the BAT file go ahead and click save and then proceed to left double click the same BAT file inside the folder.

If everything is correct, you should see your miner startup and begin mining Ravencoin. Now that you have the miner running we can proceed to begin overclocking your graphics cards, but first, you need to plug the rest of the graphics cards.

Go ahead and repeat step 8 but instead of plugging one card at a time do two at a time instead. Remember let the Mining rig run for a few minutes to allow time for the drivers to install fully.

Once you have all the cards and drivers installed go ahead and restart the machine before starting the Ravencoin miner. Once you restart the rig and miner be sure to check that all 8 GPUs are running in the miner software window. If not check the device manager inside of windows to ensure all GPUs are registering. If everything is running fine go ahead and close the miner to turn it off and open MSI Afterburner.

I have personally field-tested these settings quite extensively, and I feel as though they are very stable for my ti rigs. As a bonus tip, I wanted to follow up on my earlier mention about mining Eth on these cards, and so I wanted to show you how to set up Eth mining as well.

For the BRD wallet, I wanted to disclose for first-time wallet users the importance of learning how to back up your wallet always. For the Ethereum miner file go ahead and repeat the same steps as you did with the Ravencoin miner. However, the text that you copy into the BAT file is as follows. Now you need to start up MSI Afterburner to begin overclocking the cards, but first, you need to create a profile to save your Ravencoin overclock settings in side of afterburner.

Once you save the settings, start creating a separate profile for the Ethereum overclock settings. Give the miner a few minutes to connect to the pool and you hashrate should look something like this.

You can also track your mining rig stats directly from the pool or through a phone app called ether mon. As I stated before these are just a few of the cryptocurrencies you can mine with the ti 4GB series cards. The best part I like about them is their cost per hash tends to be lower than most cards which makes your mining rig ROI faster.

I hope this guide has helped you on your journey into crypto mining, but I wanted to leave some additional resources that I use daily to get insights about other coins to mine.
